When you drive up to Camp Chen-A-Wanda and enter our gates, you are transported to a beautiful place nestled in the endless mountains of Pennsylvania far from the hustle and bustle of a technologically advanced world. Long-standing camp traditions take center stage here at Camp Chen-A-Wanda. This is a place where you are free to be exactly who you are, to try new things and challenge yourself to be the best version of YOU! We are a summer family who celebrates together and supports one another through it all. Camp Chen-A-Wanda is a warm embrace that will provide your child with a summer of incredible adventures and experiences along with friendships that will last a lifetime.
General Tidbits of Chenny
Camp Chen-A-Wanda was established in 1939 and has served thousands and thousands of campers over the past 80 plus years. Our camp population is made up of boys and girls ages 7 – 16 years old and come from several communities throughout New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Florida and even North Carolina, Missouri, and California. We are diverse and varied so you can’t coin Chenny as a camp that comes from one place. 
We have a staff of 300 exceptional people who dedicate their summers to providing the most incredible experiences to your children.
We say that Life is Great at Camp Chen-A-Wanda and it truly is. It is a place where we unplug from the daily existence of technology that at times keeps us disconnected from one another to a summer full of face-to-face amazing relationships and adventures that surpass our dreams. A place where being outside and playing all day long is what we do. Chenny is a place that allows us to reach our potential and be the best we can be.
Camp Family
When you enter Camp Chen-A-Wanda, you feel a sense of being home. The setting is beautiful and the vibe is even better. There is always music playing throughout camp because when it sounds good, it feels good. The relationships you form at camp resemble a true family and that is key to our success. When one of us takes center stage to sing in the talent show, it’s as if we are all up there pouring our hearts out for our family. We always cheer with an enthusiasm that leaves you breathless.
This respect we have for one another starts from the get-go and when you sign up as a new Chenny camper, you are given a Big Sister or Big Brother who is excited to show you the ropes. We connect you way before camp begins so it gives you plenty of time to start your friendship. We also have some events at camp that will bring you together with your Big. It is an incredible program that literally passes the torch for our older kids’ love and devotion for Chenny onto the new excited camper just starting their journey.
